Vinyasa is a Sanskrit word for a phrase that roughly translates as "to place in a special way". Vinyasa classes consists of fluid, continuous movements linked with the breath. As a philosophy, Vinyasa recognizes the temporary nature of things. We enter into a posture, are there for a while and then leave.
The intensity of the practice is similar to Ashtanga, but no two vinyasa classes are the same. The variable nature of Vinyasa Yoga helps to develop a more balanced body as well as prevent repetitive motion injuries.
